ARTESANTANDER, en la pasada edición y coincidiendo con su veinte aniversario, cambió su formato buscando, en esencia, una mayor flexibilidad, una mejor gestión de los recursos disponibles, un mayor dinamismo, y ganar en accesibilidad, rentabilidad y eficacia.

Nuestra intención en esta vigésimo primera edición que se celebrará entre los días 18 y 22 de Julio de 2012, en el Palacio de Exposiciones de la Ciudad de Santander, es darle continuidad a este cambio de formato y esquema de desarrollo, con la ilusión del primer día.

Insistimos en la idea de convertir el evento en un Festival de Projects. Una Feria más especializada y en la que la obra de los diferentes artistas y las galerías que la presentan ganen presencia y protagonismo. Cada galerista dispondrá gratuitamente de un stand en el que presentará un programa basado en un Solo Projects. ARTESANTANDER se llevará a cabo exclusivamente en la planta superior del recinto ferial, estará formada por 42 stands de unos 22 m2, en un espacio diáfano más claro y accesible para los contenidos presentados.

Las propuestas presentadas serán previamente evaluadas por el comité de selección de la Feria formado en esta edición por: Javier Hontoria, Crítico de arte y comisario independiente. Responsable de la sección de exposiciones internacionales en www.elcultural.es; Elena Vozmediano, Crítica de arte, escribe semanalmente desde 1998 en El Cultural (El Mundo). Fue Presidenta del Instituto de Arte Contemporáneo entre 2008 y 2011; y Juan Silió, director de la galería cántabra del mismo nombre. Es en la actualidad el Presidente de la Asociación de galerías de Arte Contemporáneo de Cantabria.

El comité seleccionará las propuestas en función de su calidad y cursará la invitación de asistencia a las galerías y proyectos elegidos. Las solicitudes podrán ser enviadas a la dirección de la Feria hasta el próximo 12 de Mayo, día en el que finaliza el plazo para solicitar espacio en la Feria.

Se mantiene el Programa de Coleccionistas, a partir de este momento incentivando la presencia de responsables de museos, centros de arte y colecciones con la intención de que ARTESANTANDER se convierta en un observatorio de propuestas, un "semillero" de artistas accesible a los máximos responsables del arte contemporáneo a nivel nacional e internacional.
Por otra parte, la exitosa fórmula Visiones Urbanas, el arte en la calle, se mantiene como reclamo publicitario de la propia Feria en el exterior y, a la vez, como referente cultural por excelencia en época estival para los ciudadanos que se encuentran en Santander en las fechas de celebración de la Feria.

Cambiar para mejorar, mejorar para ser más eficaces y competitivos, ser más eficaces y competitivos para adaptarse mejor a las necesidades del presente y del futuro es el reto.

ARTESANTANDER, in last year and coinciding with its twentieth anniversary, changed its format to seek, in essence, more flexibility, better management of available resources, more dynamic, and win in accessibility, and efficiency.

Our intention in this twenty first edition to be held between 18 and 22 July 2012 in the Santander Congress an Exhibition Hall, is to continue with this format change and development scheme, with the enthusiasm of the first days.

We emphasize the idea of turning around the event into a Festival of Projects. A more specialized Fair in which the work of different artists and galleries that exhibit get presence and prominence. Each gallery will have a booth for free that will present a program based on a ONE PROJECT.

RTESANTANDER will take place exclusively on the top floor of the exhibition center, will consist of 42 stands of about 22 m2, in an open space clear and accessible to the contents presented.
The projects will first be evaluated by the selection committee. This year it is composed by: Javier Hontoria, art critic and independent curator. Responsible for the international exhibition section www.elcultural.es; Elena Vozmediano, art critic, writes weekly since 1998 in El Cultural in the newspaper El Mundo. She was President of the Institute of Contemporary Art between 2008 and 2011, and Juan Silió, director of the gallery of the same name. He is currently the President of the Association of Contemporary Art galleries of Cantabria (Spain).

The committee will select the projects based on their quality and shall give the invitation to assist galleries and project selected. Applications may be sent to the address of the Fair until next May 12th, the day that the deadline to apply for space at the Fair.

Program Collectors is maintained, from this time encouraging the presence of responsables of museums, art centers and collections with the intention of becoming a ARTESANTANDER observatory proposals, a "hotbed" of artists accessible to the most responsables of contemporary art nationally and internationally.

Moreover, the successful programme Urban Visions, art on the street, is kept as a publicity of the Fair itself abroad and at the same time, as a cultural reference for excellence in the summer for citizens who are in Santander in the dates of the Fair.

Change for the better, improved to be more efficient and competitive, be more efficient and competitive to better suit the needs of present and future is the challenge.
